Look for the Lessons

Look for the Lessons

Hey everybody, it’s Barb, and welcome from the land of High5. Coming to you today with a little story because I laughed out loud at myself, and you know, one of the things that I absolutely believe is that there is a lesson in pretty much everything, and I certainly had one this morning that I got from myself that I thought I would share.

This morning I was opening this little bottle of electrolyte tabs. I just started using them. I put them in water before I go run or workout, and you take this top off, and you separate the top from this other little tab so you can get the tablets out. Once I had the top off, then I worked really hard to now get this little ring off the top, it was really tight, and as soon as I did that, I laughed out loud because what I realized is that all I simply had to do was slide it down and it came off very easily.

The question of course is, “Where else am I doing that in my life?” Lots of places. What it was, though, is that my programming or my story had me thinking that it had to come off the top. I grew up with milk jugs and we had to pull it up off the top. It wouldn’t have worked to go down, so that’s immediately what I did when I came across that little ring because it’s a program. I didn’t even think about it. I wasn’t present. I wasn’t in the moment. That’s what happens is when we are not present, awake, aware, we’re coming from autopilot, we’re back in our stories, and we’re back in our programming, and we make things harder than they have to be. If we would just stay in the moment we could see that there’s another solution, and it’s a lot easier.

The question for you is, “Where in your life are you making things harder than they have to be?” The key is to be present, to be in the moment, and to look for the easy answer. Stay in the flow, stay in the alignment, and it’s a whole lot more fun as well because that’s where that joy shows up that we like to talk about.

Have some fun today. Be aware. Be awake. What lessons can you learn from the little things that go on in your life, and keep moving forward, elevating your life. And of course, choose joy.
