PSL Season … The New Fall

PSL Season … The New Fall

Are you a PSLer? If you don’t know what PSL is, then you are definitely not one! PSL stands for Pumpkin Spice Latte, and for Pumpkin Spice lovers, they know it’s fall when PSL is back on the menu!

Have you ever thought about how you usher in the new seasons of your life? Do you hold on to old thoughts, beliefs, and traditions, or do you let go of some of the old to make room for the new? There is no right or wrong answer here. It’s just a look inside to see how we approach the changes that happen all around us.

My PSL journey goes something like this.

ME: I can’t believe everyone gets this excited about PSL.

Then one day I had pumpkin spice added to my Chai Tea Latte, and my story changed quickly.

NEW STORY ME: How did I ever live without this?

And then I completely stopped drinking Chai Tea Latte, so no more PSL and my story changed again.

NEWER STORY ME: I love fall!

Two things of note here.

First, our stories change over our lives, and they should. I have fond memories of my PSL days. I’m glad I didn’t stick to my original story, and allowed myself the PSL experience.

And, second, when I change my story, it’s absolutely ok to change it again. And again. And again. And again. However, do it purposefully.

As we journey through life our best option is to remain flexible and focused on our outcomes. PSL doesn’t fit with my outcomes right now. I’m not saying it never will again, however, for today that is my choice.

Of course, you already understand this blog isn’t really about PSL.

Whenever I have a strong reaction to something different, I now take a moment to check in about why I had that reaction, and I ask myself some questions. Am I limiting myself based on old programming, fears and stories? Is there a new possibility if I let go of the old and make some room for a new perspective?

One of the cool things I love most about fall is when the leaves drop from the trees. We can see further because nothing is blocking our view. It’s also a great time for us to uncover what else we can see if we let the old stories fall away.

I wish for you a fall of new possibilities, and if you so desire, a PSL!

In love, service and joy,

Barb
