What Did You Do With Your Extra Hour?

What Did You Do With Your Extra Hour?

I’m not entirely sure why we still do the whole daylight savings back and forth thing, but since we do, I will be the first to say I love it way more when we get the extra hour than when we lose it. It always feels like a bonus!

An extra hour to do anything I please.

For many of us, it’s a chance to catch up on our lack of sleep. For others, maybe it’s an hour to themselves while the rest of the world sleeps.

For some reason, with me, because I have an extra hour, it actually gets some thought. What will I do with it?

What about every other hour I have? What if I gave those more thought?

It’s so easy to say “I don’t have time,” and yet, for most of us, we could find more time if we simply took the time (that we say we don’t have) to look at what we are actually spending our time on. Maybe that’s the EXACT thing to do with your extra hour. Use it to examine what’s getting your time, and therefore, your attention and energy.

Are you giving your time to people and things that add value to your life? Or is it stuff that has you desiring an escape from the reality of your life? If the reality we’re living isn’t what we want, escaping into someone else’s reality on tv, or through social media, is never going to change what’s happening in our world.

This week, take the hour to do something outside your norm that moves you toward the reality you want for your life.

  • Turn off the TV and take your significant other on a walk. Spend that time sharing what you love most about each other and what you want for your life together.
  • Power down the cell phone and get out the craft supplies or instrument that you haven’t picked up in ages to let yourself reconnect to that passion.
  • Do THE thing that makes your palms sweat, and you know you’ll be happy you did it.

The following statement may come as a harsh reality – when we make the same choices day in and day out, we can’t blame anyone else for us not having the relationships, career, love and joy we want in our life. If you want something in your life to change, the only way to ensure that is for you to change. You go first. I go first.

Make that High5 Choice today that will lead you to that High5 Moment to start creating your High5 Life.

So, what did I do with my extra hour? I got up and celebrated the sun being up earlier (which I LOOOVE) by going for a run on the beach. I haven’t done that in months!

For something to change, something has to change … or someone.

You Go First! I Go First! Choose Joy!
