27 Mar What the First High5 Leadership Class Means to Me
|(Video Transcription) Hey, everybody. It’s Barb, and I just did a live periscope broadcast that I was going to share with everybody, but the audio didn’t work out very well, so I thought I’d just shoot this quick video instead. I really wanted to share today what this weekend means to me, and this very first High5 Leadership class. It is about a journey, that I have been on for a very long time, and one that really is Just Getting Started. I’ve been on this personal development journey for quite a while, and probably 15, 20 years ago, I had some awarenesses that I was really proud of. That was the fact that I had a choice, but in those days, my conversation was about the fact that I had a choice to either have a good day or a bad day. I was pretty proud, because some days, I would choose to have a bad day, but it was my choice, so it was okay, right?
I’ve kind of grown since then. Doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense that if I can choose to have a good day or a bad day, seems like good would be the choice to make. You know what? It’s just part of figuring those things out, and I needed to start somewhere, and we all do. This weekend is that journey for others. Wherever they are, they get to have those awarenesses, and it’s my job to share what I know. That’s all I can do, is to share what I know, but that’s my job, and I will do it. I have had the wonderful opportunity to be transformed in my life many times over, and again, we’re just getting started, but I am so grateful for the teachers that I’ve had, the mentors that I’ve had over all of those years. Probably the biggest one was Mike Jones and Discover Leadership Training, for really helping me step outside of that comfort zone, and teaching me all of the things that are available if I just have the courage to go for it.
It is for me about practicing what I teach, and knowing that there were some things in my life that needed to change. Here I am. I’m living in southern California. You can see the ocean behind me, and I’m with my family, and I get to go hiking with them. I get to do all of that stuff with them and am now surrounded by them. They’ll be with me this weekend, supporting me, supporting the class. I’m going to be with people that I absolutely love. Mr. Kevin Fink, Ms. Vicki Werling, truly just taking it to our next level, so that we can help others take it to their next level. This whole journey for me is about joy, and my joy that I’ve found is about helping others. It’s not about me at all. Not at all. It is about, what can I give so that others can make a difference in their lives, can be happy in their lives?
That, for me, is what this weekend is all about, helping them discover, at least take that first step into having a more happy, a more joyous life, truly learning to love themselves, picking themselves, and then giving it away to everyone in their life. For those of you that have been on that journey with me, you know what it’s like. Send them some energy this weekend, and join us at 2:00 on Periscope for graduation. That’s California time. Would love for you to be there for that celebration, or join us in person. Whatever it is, continue your personal development journey, because ladies and gentlemen, we are Just Getting Started. Have an incredible, joy-filled day. Choose joy, spread joy. Love you all. Talk to you soon.
