17 Jun Which Is Better, 1 or 2?
Recently, I went to get my eyes checked. As part of the exam, the doctor did that process where he flips the lenses and asks, “Which is better, 1 or 2?”, and I got to choose which was clearer for me.
I left with the contacts that help me see most clearly. The visit got me thinking, and I will always remember the very first time I got glasses. I realized that there was so much more to see!
Life is like that. There is way more available to us than what we can currently see, and we only get to see more when we change our perspective. If we continue looking from the exact same perspective, there are no new possibilities. If we filter everything through our current beliefs, attitudes and stories, we will keep repeating our current reality. That’s not saying it’s bad. It’s just eliminating what else is possible, and we may be missing out on the potential right in front of us.
For every question, situation and opportunity that arises get another perspective and ask yourself, “Which is better, 1 or 2?” Just because it used to be clear doesn’t mean it can’t get clearer.
In my case, for many years, the negative choice was what was clear for me. It’s what I saw, AND it’s what I chose. When I finally realized that a positive choice also existed, my whole life changed. That’s not to say that I never see the negative anymore. Not at all. Now when I do, though, I take a moment and ask myself, “Which is better, 1 or 2?”
